Artist's Statement
My work incorporates both figurative and abstract
elements. The fragility and boastfulness of human nature are often
represented by anthropomorphic figures. These figures are often suspended
between a dream and animal spirit world, in a constant state of
transformation and change.
My art is influenced by my personal subjectivity in relation to
surroundings, relationships, dreams and memories. Mythological and
abstract concepts mix with contemporary concerns and issues that affect
our daily lives. My work consists mostly of acrylic painting and drawings
on watercolor paper. The subject matter and textural background in my
work have a primordial essence which is rooted in various ancient cultures
and cultural origins of
Mexico.
The figures in my paintings become their own mythologies, holding their
own against all odds.
