Artist's Statement

No other material than clay has the potential to so directly and unequivocally reference the earth and human form. Likewise, I see the tree as having a long history of physical and spiritual linkage to both. These two ideas combine as one through use of a unique welding process. Clay and intense heat unite to produce a microcosm of the evolutionary process.
